John Whitehead
John is a lawyer with nearly 25 years of experience in various capacities in London and the North East.
Having started out with flagship Local Authorities Wandsworth and City of Westminster, John’s initial venture into private practice saw him join Piper Smith and Basham in Pimlico, London. Primarily working in Domestic Conveyancing, John was also part of the firms Housing Association Department and led the firms venture with one of the largest independent Estate Agencies in London and the South East.
Following his relocation to the North East, John worked with two major Law Firms, firstly Mckeags and then latterly with Crutes. These ventures engaged John into setting up his own law firm in 2004, so that he could translate his ideals, ethics and ethos into Whitehead and Low.
John leads the team at Head Office including the Property Department, where he deals with residential (buying, selling and remortgaging) and commercial Conveyancing and advising on commercial and business issues, including complex business contracts, factoring agreements and franchise agreements using his vast experience and knowledge to promote the firm and advise and guide clients in these areas.
Furthermore, John has also set up and leads the Employment Department, acting for a number of Local Employers and Employees as well as those in London. This involves advising on non-contentious issues such as the provision of employment contracts and handbooks for Employers as well as advising on contentious issues. This can include advising employees on Compromise Agreements, drafting such Agreements for Employers as well as taking conduct of matters in the Employment Tribunal for both employers and employees including Advocacy at the Tribunal.
He is also a member of the Employment Lawyers Association and the Employment Tribunal users Group.
